Bathrooms grow it on grout, caulk, and ceilings where ventilation falls short; basements and crawl spaces host it on stored goods and framing wherever the musty-smell investigation leads; closets and furniture backs against exterior walls grow the condensation species in stagnant air; attics grow it on north-face sheathing fed by exhaust-fan moisture and ceiling leaks of air; window sills and returns collect it below chronic condensation; and appliance gaskets, washer doors above all, culture it in standing film.
